Positive Thinking might not come naturally, you may actually be stuck in negative thought patterns and not even realize it. If you are really wanting a change then try one or all of the suggestions below.
Positive Words
Be mindful of your words. A great exercise is to sit down and write all of the words and phrases you believe you use a lot. Then ask your closest circle. If you find a negative phrase, change it. Your mind believes what it hears.
Try to use only positive words even when describing a challenging situation.
For Example:
Negative: Our numbers are down we aren’t going to hit our goals.
Positive: We are moving in the right direction and everyone is working hard to hit our goals.
Negative: I hate getting up early.
Positive: I love that I have a comfortable bed that makes me want to sleep in.
Negative: Rush hour traffic is horrific.
Positive: I am so glad I have a car and a great playlist to listen too.
Run, run, run from negative conversations. Negative Energy is POWERFUL. Find a reason to excuse your self, change the topic, or have a positive response for every negative one.
Your Diet
Your diet is more than what you eat. Everything you hearing and seeing is also part of your diet. Just as what you eat is important for your health also what you see and hear is too. BEWARE of the input to your brain. Yes, that means social media, movies, books and the news.
Be Careful of Your Company
This doesn’t just mean who you hang out with, but also who is on your social media feeds. Make sure you mute, unfollow, or unfriend those negative feeds.
If that negative person happens to be someone you cannot stop being around then set healthy boundaries for yourself. Know they may resist these boundaries so be sure to maintain them. Most importantly, do not let them draw you into drama or complaining. Instead, focus on the solution.
Start Doing More Positive Things
Some easy ways to do more positive things is to compliment people. It is easy to do and everyone feels good about it. Writing in a gratitude journal is also another way to make your day more positive. Find positive people to spend time with.
